IPL5 winner - Kolkata Knight Riders

You can ban him..you can slam him as haughty..but guess who had the last laugh in this season of IPL? The king khan himself..An amazing victory for KKR!!..

When IPL started its first run, I was secretly rooting for KKR for one simple reason- Shah Rukh Khan. His team was a laughing stock initially...but over the time, with some strategic and contriversal decisions they came  back with a bang.We came to notice the acute buisiness man in SRK, when KKR dumped Ganguly after the team's debacle in IPL. It caused much hue and cry but KKR had the guts to stick to the decision. This year was almost make or break for them and SRK. This victory is a lease of fresh air for the actor who is currently going thru a lean phase in his career.

His recent contriversies like brawl in the club with Shirish Kunder and more recently the Wakhande stadium  row brought about a lot of negative publicity to the bollywood's favourite romantic hero. People started saying that he is going through a lean phase, midlife crisis, ego issue etc..His peers like Salman and Amir have outshined him in recent times.Maybe he feels threathened..He is human afterall. His magnum opus RA.one nose dived.None of his moves are stated to release any time soon. He who always proclaimed himself as the King of bollywood, luck has been running away from him for a long time.

However, with SRK you can never say.The guy never gives up..It must have taken him 5 years, but finally he tasted success in IPL. The man's spirit is inspiring. He could have easily given up on KKR, but he didnt..and his perseverence and dreams for brand KKR has payed off...Well done KKR and SRK...keep rocking:)

The hunger games book review

Hunger games is one beautiful novel that I have read in recent times.I should confess that I didnt try it initially because the title and the reviews were talking about a story that revolves around a gladiater like games, the kind of topic that I am not much interested in. However once the movie was out and it started breaking all the records, I sat up and took notice..Vain, but true..That is how I bought this book to find out what the hype is all about..and boy,was I surprised??you bet!!..
First of all, as the title suggests, it is all about a game. The annual hunger games held in the country of Panem is more than just a game.It is a proclamation of power, an announcement of superioriry of the capitol,a warning to the people of the 12 districts that a rebellion of any kind is strictly taboo.Doesnt the same kind of undercurrent exist in today's world?

The story progresses in the first person narrative of Katnis Everdeen. She is a girl of high spirits and a passion for life..She doesnt give up on life when her father dies or her mother goes into depression. She fights and never gives up on her family. How she stands up against all odds, for her familly is awe inspiring..She ,along with the baker's son Peeta are the tributes to this year's hunger games. And the game itself, oh man..I bow down to Suzanne.

The game part of the book is well conceived and depicted with such clarity that I found myself holding my breath many times. It is a game for the viewers, a reality show actually. But for the contestants, it is a fight for their life. When it comes to your life, deep down we all become selfish. We try to hold on our own. Katnis is barely above a teenager, and she doesnt have any hope of returning back fighting the other mighty contestants.A saddistic gladiater like game hosted by the people in power in a closed arena .It holds many threats, wild predators, mind games played by the game masters and the greatest threat of all being pople ready to kill each other to save their life.

This is one helluva book.My opinion is - do not miss it at any cost.
